The major responsibilities of mine is to check the referrences and doing performance appraisal,
Can anybody tell me what are the questions I should ask, or what are the nformations I should look forward at the time of referrence check?
also guide me about the performance appraisal.

During your reference check:
Please go through the company's web-site for enquiry and call those numbers for a correct info regarding the dept head and concerned process.Ask the concerned head of him on the employee's salary,experience,designation and role.Ask him about his behaviour,conduct and character.
Regarding the performance appraisals,do the appraisal of your employees either by 360 degrees or by 180 degrees flat.It should be done and designed according to the company's policiesand industry grounds.
