Dear Respected Members,

I left my previous company on September 30, 2022. My previous company has made contributions to the PF amount only until August 2022 and defaulted for the month of September 2022. Now, I want to set an exit date, but I am confused about which month I should choose as my exit date – should it be August when the last contribution was made, or September when I quit?

The EPFO online portal shows September as the contribution month, even though the previous company has defaulted. Please find attached pictures for reference and kindly guide me.

Choose September as your exit date since it corresponds to when you left the company.

You need to check whether the salary will be paid in September or not. If the salary will be paid, then you have to put the last working date in September. If not, you can put the date of exit in August. The key point to remember is that the joining date of the new company should not be before the exit date of the previous company.
