Hi Experts, I am from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. I am working as HR Manager in IT company As on now no single positive case of corona has been found in Gujarat. As a prior steps of prevention, government of Gujarat has announce to close down school, colleges & all. As of now we are not near to the situation like lock-out. But in case lock-out happens & we have to ask employees to work from home or if we have to give leaves to them then what would be the policy regarding their salary?
If we give them paid leaves for 15 days then what about work? if we give work from home then how we will measure their work? we are IT company and as of now we do not allow work from home. we are 25 employees.

Hi Meghavi,
The similar situation we are facing here too. but I think we can not put measurement on such criteria. If the organisation want to keep their work going then we have to keep faith on our employees instead putting doubt of his/her working abilities.
The employees who ask for work from home are that much responsible & mature too. hence i think we just have to move out from this pandemic situation.

Dear Meghavi and Suchit,
In the manufacturing and service industries, people are an inseparable part of the product or services. Employees' presence is sine qua non for the production of the goods or the delivery of the services. In contrast, in IT companies, delivery of development of the product even working from a distant place. That is the benefit of the development of digital goods.
In both of your companies, why it was not possible to give the facility of working from home is not understood. Is your server located on the cloud or locally available? Secondly, measurement of the work should not be a problem as to check whether coding is one or not or to check bugs in the software one need not be available at the office. It can be done remotely also.
If you are facing the problem of remote working then why not to try using Google Drive or Microsoft's One Drive? Of course in some cases, because of the security issues, the client's permission is required. Approach the client and find out how they can help you.
Thanks,

Hi Experts, I am from Bangalore, working as an HR Manager in a media & production industry. As we all know that condition of Karnataka is not good & near by our workplace one tech park was affected of corona,so that's why I raise a concern about needed actions for corona so they give this month work from home for all.To measure employees work flow through out the work from home phrase we are conducting everyday stand up meeting in Skype at sharp 9:30 am -10 am,and also we have make a reporting form for every department wise employees ,they have to fill that link everyday after finishing their work & need to send that report to the concern team lead to assist & evaluate further.I hope that by this measure techniques we can follow up with the employee work flow & the productivity will also maintained.

Work From Home Is it Possible for Manufacturing Industries,Kindly give suggestion for this issue

Hi Meghavi,
Being an IT company, it is easy for you guys to work remotely. You can arrange a meeting with the team and plan accordingly.
If not ask employees to come to work in batches say for eg: if there are 6 ppl in a dept, ask 3 to work for a week while the remaining be at home and vice versa.
If you plan it this way, the work will also be done, less chances of all falling sick and you can pay salary as well.

one of our employee approved his leave from 07.03.20 to 28.03.20 for other reason .Now as per current situation , we have started work from home.Is that employee eligible for salary payment ?
From India, Pune
Hi NRK1483,
I would suggest you to check with his line manager whether that employee who is on vacation is working from home and completing the tasks on time.
If so, you can consider to pay him for the days he has worked.
If not, you need not pay him from 07/03/2020 to 28/03/2020.

Work From Home Is it Possible for Manufacturing Industries?
From India, Mandi
Hi
We are IT company based in Mumbai as precautionary step we have started work from home for our entire IT/Tech Department but for Non IT Department (Accounts, Sales, HR, admin)because of the nature of their work its difficult to give them work from home. Since the situation is getting bad in Mumbai so we are planning to give them leave or work from home. So please suggest the leave and salary policy for this category employees. For leaves can it be Unpaid Leaves ? or for work from home can it be 50% salary ? as the productivity in WFH will be less
