Dear Readers,
As Provident Fund is eligible for employees until 58 years, but the retirement age in the company is 60 years. How can we process his PF contributions to the PF authority or discontinue his PF contributions? Can he avail of a pension now or after 60 years of service? Is there any procedure to apply for a pension and the documents required?
Thank you.

There is no age limit for the Provident Fund. However, to claim the Pension, you have to be 58 years old. Even after reaching 58 years, you can continue to contribute to the Provident Fund and the Pension Fund. Previously, there was an instruction that the entire amount payable by the employer should be contributed only to the Provident Fund without dividing it as 8.33% to the Pension Fund and the rest to the Provident Fund. Now, EPFO allows contributions to the Pension Fund until the age of 60.

Dear Madhu,
Can you share any circular or guideline on "Now, even after 58 years you can contribute PF and also to Pension Fund"? It will help us to support employees in terms of pension continuity as in our company the retirement age is 60 years.
Looking forward to your support!

Please find the attachment. The circular says that you can defer collection of pension for 2 years from 58 years of age and by doing that your pension also increases.

Thank you for the notification on PF. Can any member clarify whether an employee can continue contributing towards EPS after turning 58, even if the retirement age is 60? Is it permissible to contribute to EPS in this scenario? Kindly provide clarification.

You can contribute to EPS until 60 years of age. By doing so, the member/employee will receive an additional percentage increase in pension. PF, obviously, shall be contributed even after the age of superannuation because under PF, there is no age limit.

If an employee completes 58 years, that employee is eligible for provident fund only. The contribution of PF at 12% from both the employee and employer is added to the provident fund only. There will be no contribution to the pension scheme for employees who have completed 10 years or more of service and are reaching 58 years.
