We are the contractor. One of our employees was working as a field engineer at the client site. We received information from the client that the employee is not reporting at the site. Please issue an abscond letter dated 5th August. We have already done this and paid him until the 19th of August. Now, we are requesting a notice from the labor department stating that the employee is in dispute and providing proof that work was assigned to him until August 9th.
His argument is that the management marked him as absconding in their records and stopped assigning work to him because he was a field engineer who worked on calls. He is requesting a written explanation as to why the company took this action against him and is asking for compensation. Attendance was recorded on an online portal, but the client has now deactivated the login ID, and we have no access to the records. The labor department has issued a notice to us. Please suggest what actions we can take as a contractor.
