Dear Professionals,
I would like the opinion of HR professionals who are handling the Security Guard Board (Maharashtra) under The Maharashtra Private Security Guards (Regulation Of Employment And Welfare) Act, 1981, on the quality of services provided by them. Is it advisable to go for the services under the Security Guard Board? Furthermore, if they have applied for exemption, which agencies are involved?
I also request you to mention your name, your organization's name, and your designation. We are in the process of collecting your opinions to move forward. Your opinion matters.
Thank you,

Not compulsory to recruit security guards through Guard Board. But ensure that the agency through which you engage guards is an exempted agency under the Act and complies with all the minimum requirements of the Guard Board.

Dear Ashutosh,
Under the Security Board Act, you are supposed to take guards from them only (Guard Board). Please consider the following:
a) Just assess their standards.
b) Review their salary structure.
c) Evaluate their work discipline.
d) Once you employ them, it is challenging to terminate their services compared to private security agencies.
Therefore, discuss with security agencies that are exempted under the Act and ensure compliance with government regulations.

Dear Ashutosh,
It is not compulsory to have a Guard Board security for the organization, but you need to opt for a registered security agency only. The security agency you are considering for your organization should have proper registration under the Security Guard Board, and they must adhere to all norms and rules laid down by the board.
There are many security agencies you may find in Mumbai, but not all of them are registered or exempted security agencies. Therefore, you need to follow the proper documentation process before proceeding with any contract with a security agency.

Dear all,
My employer wishes to hire security guards to be directly employed by the company. He plans to terminate the contract with the private agency currently providing us with security guards. What are the pros and cons of such a decision? Is it advisable to have security personnel on the company's payroll? Please reply.
