My elder sister passed away in December 2014. She had designated my mother as the nominee for her PF. She was a lecturer at a college, and after her demise, the college principal introduced us to a person responsible for completing the PF procedure on our behalf. It has been a year and a half now, and we are yet to receive any positive response. The individual keeps providing various reasons for the delay.

Recently, he mentioned that my sister had named my mother as the nominee instead of my father, causing an issue. I am not familiar with this process at all. Can anyone advise me on what steps I should take in this situation?

You do not need anyone's help anymore. The PF website has all the details you need. If that is not enough, then ask your dad or mom to go to the PF office and speak to the PRO. They will help you resolve it. The signature and approval of the management are no longer required.

It does not take much time to get PF released. As advised above, visit the PF office with full details and talk to the concerned officials. I am sure the issue will be resolved. Do not depend on the college contact person to find out the reason for the delay. I hope you have a copy of all forms filled out regarding the death claim.
