I've recently had to cut short my notice period which I had been serving at Wipro due to my mum's health not being well. Now, I've not presented docs relating to this to the company yet, but I am afraid that I may be blacklisted. I am really tense. Is this going to end my career for good in private companies???

Wow... As an HR professional, let me clarify this matter as simply as possible. No employee can be blacklisted if the notice period is not served - straight termination or an absconding case would be the next steps taken by management.

In your case, pay the money for your upcoming salary to adjust the notice period and ask them to deduct your leaves. This way, your resignation would be accepted, and the company will provide you with an experience certificate. If you have not provided relevant documents, obtain proof from the doctor like a written statement or hospital/medicine bills.

All the best!

I am an undergraduate, by the way, who is not registered with the NSR. Now the thing is that my family has already shifted the base for my mum's treatment in a hurry, so it may be quite a while before I can get back to putting in the documents. So, what kind of severe consequences am I looking at? Because I can't go back before she is up and well.

Hello,

As other members have suggested, please talk to the concerned HR and also your boss.

The next step is to mail the scanned copies of the medical reports, bills, etc., to your boss and HR, clearly stating your request for an extension of NP.

As long as HR and your boss are convinced that this is a genuine case and not some made-up story for any reason, which can be achieved by speaking the truth and presenting all the facts, you shouldn't worry.

What does this line mean, "so it may be quite a while before I can get back to putting in the documents"?

What is being suggested in this forum is to submit the relevant medical bills for your mother's treatment. I am sure you are with your mother, right?

If you are referring to the submission process to Wipro, you already have an alternative. You can email them after discussing and explaining over the phone.

Also, inform your new company about the situation causing a delay in your relieving. They need to be prepared for your delayed joining.

By the way, not being registered with NSR has nothing to do with this case.

Regards,

TS
