I have started working as an US It Recruiter in a Software Company's Consulting Service (in night shift) they offered a handsome package so, I started working (it is my first job after my MBA degree). I want get in to HR generalist profile where we get to do people management,. performance appraisal, grievance handling , talent management and all. The problem is I am apprehensive about my current role and whether this experience would really help me in getting a break into Generalist profile or this experience won't be considered at all. I am very interested to work in Generalist profile. Please suggest! Am not directly into talent Acquisition, I mean I am not hiring candidates for my own company but I am hiring candidates for my company’s clients (top notch software companies in the world)

Hi, this is a great start. Kindly note, once you get into US Recruitment, the pay structure is nothing compared to what you get in regular domestic companies as an HR generalist. The experience will help you grow to greater heights and probably help you when looking to work abroad. US Recruitment not only enhances your verbal communication but also your written communication. This will help you in better communication, gaining recognition with a mass crowd, and later you can make a decision to move on to the Indian market. I suggest you stay for at least 1 year. US Recruitment offers a totally different kind of experience and it's more fun to work there.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, what I have noticed is that your designation barely changes even after 3 years down the line. You still remain an IT Recruiter, and the profile seems quite monotonous. My question remains the same - can I transition to a generalist profile based on this experience?
