Hi Seniors,

My name is Mohamed, and I am from Chennai. I am currently working in a US healthcare company as a quality lead. Initially, I would like to start a non-voice BPO, but I am unsure if I am capable of starting one. I need your advice on starting a non-voice BPO. I want to know what steps are involved in starting a BPO and how I can get reliable projects. Thank you for your help in advance.

Regards,
Mohamed

Sir,

With regard to the startup process of a BPO in India, the following are the few statutory things which are a must:

1. Create a company with Articles of Association and memorandum registered with the Registrar of Companies.
2. Get the company registered under Professional Tax and Service Tax.
3. Obtain the Trade License.
4. A Labour License is also required.
5. Register yourself under the Shops and Establishment Act. There are certain registers also to be maintained under each of the enactments.

In addition to all this, there are basic accounting records you need to maintain which will guide you with the expenditures and incomes. For any further clarifications, you can write to me at sriram15071970@gmail.com or I am available on 09010352384.

All the best,

Sir,

In addition to the points mentioned in my previous reply, first and foremost is to identify a perfect location for the office. Please note that there are some government schemes available to start up with, like the AP government that provides benefits for new startup companies. Therefore, you are required to identify a location suitable for operations that is also viable within the budget allotted. It is advisable to create a cost estimate that includes the approximate cost of establishing the office, staffing, and all associated expenses. This project requires meticulous planning, as mentioned in my previous post.

You may reach out to me via email at sriran15071970@gmail.com or by phone at 09010352384.

Dear Mr. Mohamed,

Setting up a company for any purpose, including BPO, is not a difficult task. There is a series of forms to be filled, documents to be prepared, registrations to be done, etc. This has been adequately covered in the responses posted so far.

However, before setting up a BPO (voice or non-voice), it is essential that you have visibility of who your client would be. In the absence of this, there is a real risk that you may make the necessary investment for setting up the facility but struggle to attract revenue-generating clients.

Please pay particular attention to this aspect.
