Is 11,000 AED per month enough in Dubai for a person with 2 (spouse and kid) family members?

One of Dubai's companies has offered me 11,000 AED per month + Medical benefits + air ticket per year. I have to manage accommodation and transport on my own. Can anyone please guide me on how much saving will be possible with this salary? Also, they have mentioned that the company is in a free zone, what is the benefit of it?

Thanks in advance.

I just checked the average cost of living from this link [Cost of Living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Prices in Dubai.](http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=United+Arab+Emirates&a mp;city=Dubai)

Seems like 11,000 AED per month is less.

Hi Amar,

The salary offered is not bad. Since you don't have UAE experience, this offer to me is very good. The good thing about freezone is that you can move to another company anytime without facing a ban. This means that you can come to Dubai, get some experience, and then if you are not happy, you can move on to another company.

11000 AED is okay. You can save 30%.

AED 11000 is good. Is the company not providing accommodation? Usually, companies do provide that. Check it out if they can provide. If not, you have to shell out rent, normally AED 2000 to 3000/- for a studio flat.

Around AED 3000/- would be other expenses. I agree with Pon1965 that you can save 30%.

It is good for you that the company is a free zone as in case you wish to change the company, there won't be any ban on you. So, you are free to look for another company if you are not happy with the current company in 6 to 8 months down the line. However, I do mention it is good to continue with the same company for the year to avail benefits like air ticket and annual vacation.

On another note, before making the decision, you have to consider the school expenses of your kid. I am not sure about that part. Other fellow members can guide.

Lastly, I would like to close with a famous quote of Albert Einstein - "The measure of intelligence is the ability to change."

Thanks a ton, everyone.

As an ASP.NET developer with 8 years of experience, what are the chances of getting a new job? How many software companies are there in Dubai?

My wife has 6 years of experience in an electrical office in the government electricity board. With this experience, is it possible for her to get a job there?

How much are the charges for daycare for baby care?

My office location is in Dubai Media City, so I need to plan accordingly.

Thanks again,
Amar

11000 AED is pretty good. If you are willing to commute a little bit more, then you can take up housing in Sharjah, which would be pretty cheap. Dubai is well connected through the recently launched MRT, and you could use it for commuting. Since you are in a Free zone, you can always find another job once you move to Dubai, as most employers prefer those who are already based in Dubai.

Dubai is a financial capital and also the hub for the Middle East and Africa. There are tons of software companies that service their clients based in the Middle East and Africa. Almost every big software company has a base in Dubai, and they prefer to recruit people who are based in Dubai.

Thank you so much.

As explained by the employer, the further process to obtain a work visa is as follows:

1. I will have to courier (by post) them my attested (UAE Embassy) degree certificate, which might take 8-10 days.
2. Once they receive it, they will process the visa, and it will take 8-10 working days.
3. After receiving the visa, they will send me an air ticket and a visa copy.
4. I will have to show this copy to airport authorities upon arrival in Dubai.
5. Following this, I will need to undergo a medical test and then apply for a residence visa, which will again take 1 or 1.5 months.

I have the following questions:
- What will be the visa category, and are the above timelines correct?
- Can somebody explain the process in detail to me?
- Also, since they have mentioned that the company is in a free zone, is there any work visa category that does not allow me to work for another company? Are there any restrictions like this? Please explain. Thank you.
