Hello friends,
I have recently completed my MBA in Human Resources and am totally interested in pursuing a career as a soft skill trainer but since i am new to this field, I don't know how to start as a fresher. At this point of time it seems to me a matter of great concern to have your valuable suggestions regarding my career. I must tell you I have never imagined myself in those boring routine desk jobs which i'll be forced to do once I grab a job of that kind. Thus, I don't want to put my entire career in jeopardy due to this.
On the contrary, there is something that I found interesting after months of extensive research in the field of Corporate and Soft skill training. I realized that this is what I'm passionate about and am actually made for. Moreover, I have been trying hard to consult a lot of people to help me out in this regard which didn't turn out so well so far. This has finally brought me here so that I could get some valuable advice that could help me shape my career in the direction I want to.
But as I'm new to the field, I don't know where to start and how to start. Therefore, it would be a great help if you could provide me with the answers to my queries stated above.
Seeking to hear from you as soon as possible.
With Kind Regards

Hi
If you had first searched this site for the answer you would have got many suggestions, including the one that I have shared with others who asked a similar query. For your benefit I am sharing the same below.
Let me compliment you on deciding to be a trainer. I am taking the liberty of adding my suggestions for your consideration.
To be a good trainer a prerequisite is good communication skills, and in particular effective presentation and public speaking skills. However, the heart and brains of the training still remains the domain knowledge but even the most knowledgeable person would fail miserably as a trainer without effective communications skills. To further improve your communication skills find a local Toastmasters club in your city and join them.
To get the academic inputs on training you can do the course from Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) as planned. Alternatively you can also attend some Train The Trainer (TTT) programs offered by private institutions.
To get going, focus on those topics that you are familiar with, confident about, passionate about or have a good grounding in. Keep updating yourself by reading extensively and start outlining the broad course contents keeping in mind the type of audience you are likely to address. In particular pay attention to the type of exercise, examples, activities that you will use during the program to reinforce a point or make the learning relevant. I would also suggest that you attend some corporate training by professionals on topics of your interest to get a feel of how it is structured and delivered.
If you have no corporate training experience, ideally take a few sessions for post graduate students in colleges or for social service clubs like Lions and Rotary's so that you gain in experience and also can fine tune your material. Once you are confident, approach a few corporates and the first few training programs are vital for future reference and for your own confidence.
I would also invite you to visit the following Inspirational and Motivational Blogs which can also assist you in improving your vocabulary and communication skills.

Dear Mayank,
Any person who wish to become a Trainer should undergo a few Trainings at the initial stage. BE YOUR BEST - LEADER is one of them. It is a 4 days life transforming Training Workshop. We provide life-long post training support (almost complimentary) so that the learnings from this Program do not get diluted over a period of time.
I recommend you to undergo this Training without fail. This Workshop is being conducted continuously at New Delhi.
For more details, you can get back to me.

Dear Friends,
Still a question arises in my mind. Where should I apply to start my career as a trainer? Are there any institutes that welcome freshers as trainers?
Any valuable suggestion would be helpful.
With Kind Regards

Dear Friends,
Some more specific replies would do much better. In a generalized way I know what does it take to be a trainer because I've been in an extensive two year program conducted by 'Hero Mind Mine' in Personality enhancement when I was pursuing my MBA degree. But since it is the matter of starting a career in the same, I'm not able to understand where should I apply to move ahead. The question still arises that are there any institutes that take freshers as trainers? I've found links on this website regarding the same but those threads are too old and broken. Can anybody please help me by giving some meaningful advice so that I can get out of this confusion?

Hello e'body..
Further to the query posted by Mayank and the reply given I presume by quite a few people who are into training .. I too have a similar query at my end.. The only difference being that Mayank seems to be a fresher( MBA pass out) looking out for training opportunities after his post graduation.. while in my case ,having a total exp of approx 12 yrs +, in various fields... customer service/ operations/ as a recruitment consultant and recently moved into growing co. that is into OD & consultancy services. abt 2 yrs ago. I do not possess any experience of handling a formal training role, though am now looking at suitable opportunities in softskills as a trainer. Have worked at locations outside mumbai too( short stint abroad ) .
I am a student of ISTD (Indian Society of Training and development) , currently pursuing the 6 month internship course.. keen to know of suitable opportunities in training & development In Mumbai location. . preferably freelancing ones for some time ( due to certain time constraints) .. Eagerly would like to know about organisations where I could look for a trainer role/ any suitable opportunities in the T& D area.
Regards..
