Before drafting dress code, first check up with your Mgmt whether they intend to provide any subsidy. Generally if dress code is insisted for workers category they may ask for uniform from the Mgmt. It can be decided taking into consideration the safety needs and security needs of the concern. Those who work near running machinery should not wear loose fitting dresses, nor it should be tight. Half sleeve formal shirts and tucked pants with shoes are preferable. For higher level executives, variations like colour, full hand sleeve shirts, etc. can be applied. For ladies chudithar / sarees are preferable.
All the best.

I fully agree with Mr. M.Venkatraghavan. Dress Code Policy is the best factor for any Organization to maintain decency and decorum. You, being the HR executive, think of once again, taking into account the status of various employees in your company, and identify differnt dress codes for different categories of employees taking into account the advise given by the experts.

Hi
Dress code policy is one of the most challenging factor as it involves status, reputation so have a clear cut details from management and senior ppl in the office and workmen. Get them agreed to the proposal then check for the safety issues and get it officially recognized.
to change the uniform we had to face major huddles in our company - one group like something and others not, one want to go modern way of Jeans and shirt and others not..... colour is another issue ... if everything was solved the material will be an issue....
so would encourage you to go for brainstorming and acceptance pooling for everything that you do as far as the uniform implementation ...
best of luck
