Dear Jayasheel,

The last date to declare the holiday list to be filled with the labor office is 30th November 2010, as per The National & Festival Holiday Act, 1963 in Form A. Please find attached a copy of the List of Holidays for 2011 for your information.

Dear Ashwini,

If your establishment is covered under the Shops & Establishment Act, then go through your applicable State Shops Act and see whether the Act requires the submission of a list of holidays to the labor office. Take action accordingly.

Hi Khola,

Thanks for your reply. We registered with Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments. My company is into software development and implementation. Is it applicable for the software industry? Please guide me.

Dear Ashwini,

Please go through your state Shops Act & applicable Rules to see whether we are required to send any list of holidays to the Inspector or any other officer of the area.

Hi Khola and all seniors,

Please help me in this regard. Our employee strength is around 12 employees now. We have not registered with PF or ESI. Now we want to take our security and housekeeping on our roll. Is it a must to pay them ESI or PF? Please suggest me on this.

Thanks and regards,
Ashwini.

Hi, Khola...

I read the state Shops Act but couldn't find the clause there. Maybe there is no clause stating that. Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks & Regards,
Ashwini

Dear Ashwini,

We are not supposed to send any list of holidays to the Inspector of the area. We are to grant national and festival holidays to the employees as provided by the Act.

Ashwini, I read the state shops act, but I couldn't find the clause there. Maybe there is no clause saying that. Thanks and Regards.
