The HR Manger and Training & Development Manager of "Orient Associates" has a conflict on the mode of upcoming training program for their engineers. Both the managers are strict to their own stances and none of them are willing to accept other’s point of view. Conflict is going to prolong and intense. Other colleagues are convincing them to solve the issue cooperatively and in a friendly manner.
What would you suggest that how this conflict should be resolved?

Dear Mulaan,

I have a question to ask you - have you defined the goal statement of the training program for engineers? What needs to be increased? What needs to be decreased?

Secondly, for the time being, you can put the training of engineers on the back burner and send these two managers for training on "Conflict Handling and Negotiation Skills." You can tell them to take a collaborative approach. I conduct training programs on both modules - conflict handling as well as negotiating skills. The former is more interesting than the latter. I have an excellent simulation on how to bring a collaborative mindset amongst the managers. If you are interested, I will conduct this training program for your managers. In the meanwhile, you can go through my training e-Brochure that is attached to this post.

Thanks,

It seems when two elephants fight, the grass suffers. A good mediator should be able to alleviate the problem. In most cases, both would have good reasons for their stance, but neither listens. Check it out.
