Extensive reading, using the new words learned, in conversations and if possible in your writing, hold the key to improving your vocabulary. Make liberal use of dictionaries and thesaurus and ask more knowledgeable people about the exact use of new words.

Hi,
I agree with Mr. Jacob, the best way to improve or increase is to read alot of newspaper, magazines, write down the new words and phrases and to use in daily conversation or usage, it not improve your knowledge as speaker it also add value to your personality. Daily try to learn 5 words with meanings and try to use the same during conversation, you can see tremendous results in few days.
I have tried and succeeded.

Whatever Yunus said is absolutely right. I only add, practice reading at home loudly. It will improve your pronunciation and help you in your spoken egnlish.
Also, there are few roots in English. If you can study them, you will multiply your vocabulary like any thing. you can build wods liek prefix plus root, root plus suffix, prefix plus root plus suffix, you will build a word bank in a short while.
Remember, simply gathering vocabulary will not help you. You must try to use all the words you learn everyday. OK, good luck.

I will give U my experience of expanding vocabulary -- Remember one thing it is not the number of words U know what is important is how many words u use - do u know an average communicator does not use more than 50-60 words (not counting words like is was etc) - wehn some one uses 100 words he is great
So best way to enhance your vocabulary is from Kitchen just scan the kitchen and try describing - move to wardrobe try again - move to garden - you are sitting in a bus stand start describing- its w onderful experience it increases your attention and awareness of vocabulay
Daily pick one word from any good reading you do and use it some ten times in the day- just create situations fake connate but use the word U will be surprised u are rich by 30 words in just four weeks and slowly it mutliplies Try try Try it costs nothing
