Hi,
My father is suffering from Hepatitis C. Its treatment is 6 months long and very costly.
The patient needs to get an injection every week. That injection costs around 13K in the market.
My father is getting the treatment from ESI Hospital, Sector 9A, Gurgaon. He has been admitted to the hospital but then he has been discharged because the medicine were not available and hospital authorities said that it will take around 1 month to procure the medicine. We want to start the treatment ASAP.
Can anyone help on this?
Or can you please suggest what can we do to speed up the treatment?

Dear Friend,
If the ESIC can direct you to local/out of your place Hospital where you would have the facility through ESIC available than you can have your Father admited in that Hospital for treatment without paying anything.
Approach your company HR and ESIC to guide you on the same.

Sir(s),
If you alongwith your dependant father are eligible for medical treatment under ESI Act, then ESIC Hospital is required to make arrangements for medicines.
You may take up the matter with the Medical Supdtt. of said ESIC Hospital or write to Medical Commissioner, ESIC, Hqrs., New Delhi for immediate provision of medicines.

Hi, Aksari,
Very sorry to hear that the ESI hospital forced you to get discharge your father without providing treatment. It was their responsbility to treat the patient. If there is no treatment thay have to transfer your father to the convenient nearby tied up hospital for the treatment with your permission, or atleast guide you to get treatment from such hospitals of your area and hospital will claime the exp. directly from ESIC. The medical officer in charge of your dispensary need to take initiate. Pls. contact with local office for further details immediatly.

ESIC cannot discharge a patient for non availability of Medicine, if they do so get the reason written on the discharge slip for appropriate action against them. ESIC usually refer the case to either General Hospital/Civil Hospitals wherein your father can get the treatment with no cost/nominal cost. Also ask your HR to intervene and draft a letter to the ESIC Superintendent to get the medical aid ASAP.

Hi All,
One of the staff in our organization was suffering from Kidney failure and was on regular medication, which was of high value. Whenever she would go to take medicine, half the medicine was not available with them, especially of high cost, and had to purchase from medical stores. Same is the case with one of our worker, who has undergone angioplasty and requires regular medication. They cannot give complete medicine, whenever needed, and are not ready to give in writing that the medicine is not available at their dispensary.
Staff / worker has to take full day or half day leave just to take medicines from ESIC - Why can't this system be improved?

Since you are more concerned about your employees, it seems that you are into HR, what steps you have taken being in HR, have you ever approached the ESIC with the grievances ? If yes what were the responses received by you, we all talk lot about system improvement but we do little contribution towards system improvement. Am sorry to use this type of language, its not to hurt anyone's sentiment.

Sir(s),
In order to improve the medical system of ESIC particularly of your area, it is essential if the beneficiaries will point out short-comings at local level (Medical Superintendent, Regional Director or IMO Incharge ) as well as at national level ( with Medical Commissioner, Hqrs.Office, New Delhi). the shortcomings can also be referred for discussion in Committees of ESIC particularly at Local Committee, Regional Board or Corporation level.
The pointing of short-comings in medical system will certain cause improvements.
