Hi Nishu,
My opinion......Only if you are asked.
For instance, the interviewer may ask questions like;
- What was the most difficult assignment you've done?
- What was the most challenging situation you've face? How did you handle it?
- How do you handle differences of opinion?
These questions are an oppurtunity to show that you can face work place challenges (bad experiences) and can be innovative and flexible to tackle these situations.
Remember, its not a oppurtunity to crib or backbite !
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Shikha

If one can afford to be honest thn nothing like it. Any workplace, if worth it, will throw challenges and thts whre u learn from. So one must be prepared to say that from every experience/ say every moment I learn. So one needs to be analytical of every experience. Learn t reflect from all experiences , some call it good/ some bad. Shikhas questions...and many more not only helps in interviews but self assessment at all times. keep answering such qustions to yourself: My challenging moments, memorable experiences, tht changed my life, my idol, my embarassments, successes, wht gives me hapiness...why i lost my previous job, whom i hurt/made happy today, wht i did tht made me proud...ans these to yourself

Hi Nishu,

I would suggest people to : Talk only when asked for!

Recently we conducted interview for a very senior role. We have a set of forms that we would want candidates to fill. During one such interviews last morning, one candidate started boasting about himself saying "Look I am a senior, why should I fill this? Why should I take up psychometric tests..."

And the worse part was - he started comparing himself with the other candidates and came and suggested me that a few people he knows in the list are actually lying abtout their profession..!

And this candidate (the so called senior candidate) - came wearing a low waist jean that would fall any minute. Yes we could see the inner wear !...and a tight fit white shirt.

All I had to advise him at the end (ofcourse he overdid the technical interviews! and was only boasting.... just plain boasting!) was

"Please talk only when invited to...atleast during interviews, else you may not land up with a good job!"

This person did not even let a few other candidates take teh tests... then they voluntarily asked me to change his room! I felt bad for this person..he was making a fool out of himself.

hey I have also experience taking interview of a site Incharge.
It all happens that we arrange for a walkin at my office for variuos post in a steel manufacturing unit.
The opening was for Manager - GM of the unit.
One person came , who wanted to be interviwed first and during interview he started saying about other candidates.
Later he was asked to stay back for a 2nd round interview which was to conduct after 2.00 Pm.
So he asked us for his Lunch. We told him to go in local market. but again he started to shout like : what kind of Comaplany is this, there is no food is provided. he actually trying to demotivate others.
It was such a bad Experience I had in my life.

Your enthuiasm is appreciated...............
Most of questions are asked by the interviewer are related to find a suitable candidate. If it is HR interview,
--- what about ur self?
---- what is your good strengths?
---- what is your weaknesses?
---- what was your achieved targets in your previous company and life?
---- what was your most challenging task?
---- what is your department hirarchy?
---- How will take the decision making?
----- How can you handle the stress movements?
---- How will you approach with the employees?
---- How will you attend the day-to-day activities?
---- Why u want to relieve from your company?
----- Why should we hire you?
The interview goes on, the questions will raise to ask the interviewee.

Krishna

I remember one such incident....one of my friends was asked in the interview "why should we reject you?".....she couldn't say anything that time.
but i think...indirectly interviewer wanted to know the weakness of the candidate...!

Well I wouldn't call my experience a bad one as such..this issue may sound trivial, but just want to understand the practice in other companies. I had been for an interview to a well known organisation which apparently has also been recognised as one of the best cos. for HR practices. I was called for the interview at 12:00 noon and was made to wait for over 2 hours for my 1st round of interview and for the 2nd round I was again made to wait, fortunately that got over by 3:00 pm. I understand this happens in most places, but my concern is that although the HR coordinator knew that I had travelled for more than 1.5 hrs to reach the venue and considering that normally people have lunch between 12:00 - 3:00, I thought that some arrangements should have been made for interviewees to at least get access to some drinking water. However, I learnt my lesson to carry a bottle of water for any future interviews that I attend. In my organisation we follow the practice of offering water, tea/coffee and if the interviewee happens to be around during lunch time, we offer lunch as well. I obviously do not expect all cos. to offer lunch, but can any of us please share the practices in their co.
