Hi to All,
I had worked with UK MNC ,which had hired me for their contract with one US MNC as a Project Mgr for India .
I served the org for more then 2 yrs ....and last month I had given notice of one month , it is as per my appointment letter .
My notice period is from 01-31 Aug 2010 .
On 19 Aug 2010 the company had provided me 2 months salary July & Aug with relieveing letter issued and signed by India Manager .
But my appointment letter had come from UK head office signed by International Director , as I was head office employee in India
Please , suggest how I can get my Exp Letter from Head Office in UK , I am chasing my line manager in US continously , but they are not responding ?
What shall I do , if they don't provide me my Exp Letter ??
As , the India Manager does not have good terms with me , and the manager will never give positive reference for new job if new company will contact them ?

Hello,
Pl don't mix-up the Exp letter & the Reference [of your ex-boss]. Both are 2 different things.
I don't think you should be worried since it's been 2 yrs that you got the Appointment Letter from the UK Office. You can always manage thru other means--we keep having such situations frequently.
First, pl keep your most-recent Salary Slips [or Bank Statement for the last 3 months of your service there--if the salary is directly credited to bank account] ready--to show anyone to prove your exp here.
Next, you can say that the procedure has now changed from 2 yrs ago--the India manager signs ALL the official docs--IF you are asked about getting the Exp letter from UK. If you aren't asked, don't ever raise the issue--giving them ideas where none exist :-)
And are you sure you are the only one who hasn't been given the Exp Letter--by the India Manager? Does such a practice exist for the other employees--or is your boss trying to hit you back [for whatever reasons--since you mentioned you aren't in good terms with him]?
Next, try to reach out the US Company person with whom you would have been in touch--usually Americans are OK to convince reg Reference Letters--pl note this has nothing to do with the Formal Exp Letter that will form a part of your Career Record.
Hope this helps.

But , if India manager is arrogant and does not want to give positive refrence what emplyoee or junior should do , cud u pls suggest that ...as now a days it is common practice in India to exploit junior employees .....by senior manager !!
Secondly , any new recruit do require refrence letter and any gud and establish company give extra point in selection with latest refrence of present or last job by applicant ?
What if after continous follow up also compnay will not give exp or ref letter ?
