I am a software engineer having 4 yrs of experience in different technologies. At the time I was recruited after a break of 3 years, I specialized in .NET. But after 6 months, I was involved in helping the company form a new team in a technology that was new to them. They gave me an increment after that last year. But now I am not given any appraisal this year due to the a leave I had taken for 4 months. The team and the working environment is good. I am married and have a daughter. I feel the experience I gained do not match my salary. Now I am in a dilemma whether to opt for new job in .NET or should I continue in this company?

If any company offering better package then you can go for it. or just stick to present until you find better one.
As leaving current job and later searching is waste of Time and from that you will be frustrate... So Just continue to present and side by side keep search better one.

I agree with Mr Sayeed, you must continue with your present job and keep looking for better opportunities. And when you ‘d found one good option, can go ahead.
There is no harm in looking for growth but one more thing that you can’t avoid is that you are married and having a child now, therefore, if you will go for job change so easily and early, need to be ready to have questions of your recruiters on your Work Management and Timing, such as whether you will be able to manage work and life with a child, can give your good attention to your work or not etc.
With the Software Industry, these things always being consider for a married candidate and one has to be too smart and confident with it. Also you have few months gap, in that case it would be better to continue with your present job and earn some more experience which will boost your confidence and enhance your knowledge and skills that you also required. Good job with hike in salary you can get more in future.
Best of Luck
