As the employee is continues on leave upto 30th jan in this case he must have to mark his presence on 31st jan. but he didn't do so, so he must be marked absent on that particular day and as he joined on 1st feb the duty should be counted from 1st feb.

31 jan should not be considered as his leave, simply just because your company has weekly of on Sunday. and this is not emploees prob. if your company would have opened on 31 jan, he would have joined on 31 jan but as its weekly off , he has no option but to join on 1 st feb.

In your case, that employee is not entitled for sunday as a paid weekly off. So, sunday will be also count as a leave.
Prefix suffix is considered only if he has worked on that week. But if he is on leave since last 10 days, then how will he entitled for weekly off.

As per statute, if an employee works for 6 days, the 7th day should be off day. This off day will be available only when the employee works on the days prior to the off day. So there is no question of treating as working will not arise for 31st Jan.
