Dear All,
Please find the attached file for Labour Laws-related Mini Handbook for all my HR friends. There were around 45 views for the post that I sent on 14th July 2009 regarding "Appraisal Feedback Form," but I am very sorry to say that I did not receive even one response from my friends at the time of need. Anyways, there is always next time.

Nice contribution...quite helpful. Do you have any format for the Works Committee and other committees required for CSR audit for a garment export house? Also, any ideas on the child labor remedial policy?

Dear Priya,
Thanks for the posting, but with due apologies to you and all my friends, I would like to add that the mini handbook is outdated and does not carry up-to-date changes. For example, under ESI, the wage limit is shown as Rs.7500, whereas it is now Rs.10000 from 1.10.2006.
Under the payment of wages act, the wage limit is shown as Rs.6500, whereas it is also raised to Rs.10000 w.e.f. 27.10.2007.
Likewise, under the Payment of Bonus Act, the coverage limit is shown as Rs.3500, and the calculation limit is Rs.2500, whereas it has now been changed to Rs.10000 and Rs.3500, respectively.
I suggest all to please check and reconfirm the correctness of facts, especially in the case of laws, before posting on the site, because many people may get carried away by the presumption of the correctness of facts and may use the information which may backfire.
With this post, I don't intend to hurt anyone or undermine the value of efforts put in by you in compiling the data, though the same material has already been posted many times by other friends.
Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere.

Dear Priya,
Thanks for the PPT. Although some of the facts need to be revised, it's still good to have all the facts in front of you. Could you also elaborate on what all registers/forms/compliances need to be undertaken for the same?

I am from a small company with 16 employees. We do not have PF, ESI, insurance, etc. Are these mandatory for any company? Are there any legal problems for not having PF? Can anyone help me?
Thanks,

I agree with you, Anil. This material has been posted umpteen times in this forum itself. Posters should check before posting such "lifted" items. It is outdated, which is but natural when someone lifts materials and simply posts it again. It is sad to find people taking credit for something they have not created themselves. Regards.

Dear Priya,
The site has put up a timer wherein users cannot open documents quickly. The timer states it as two minutes, but it actually takes five minutes. Hence, users may not have time to waste waiting.
The administrators should consider removing the timer for viewing documents. I also couldn't see the document. Anyway, it is a good initiative. We can work together for an IT company.
Cheers,
Venkat

I have just downloaded and seen. A lot of effort has been put up, and I appreciate it. The list of the laws can be further expanded to include acts like the Mines Act, Plantation Act, etc. I have a suggestion to add one important benefit in the ESI Act chapter: disablement benefit. This is a very crucial benefit. Disablements resulting from injuries in accidents in the course of or out of employment are compensated. "Injury" is not only injuries sustained in accidents but also includes health impairments due to the work environment such as high noise, chemicals, gases, vapors, and so on - chronic poisoning. Even if your existing illness is exacerbated due to the work environment, one can claim compensation.
