Hello,

As per the present structure for salaried individuals, there is no professional tax below Rs 3,000 per month. For incomes between Rs 3,000 and Rs 6,000, the tax is Rs 20 per month. In the range of Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 per month, the tax is Rs 40. For a monthly salary between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,000, the tax is Rs 60 per month, while it is Rs 80 per month for salaries exceeding Rs 12,000.

Thank you,
Rachana

Hi Dear Colleagues,

My name is Mr. Hitesh Mehta, and I am currently working in a private firm. I am interested in knowing the professional tax slabs in Gujarat for the financial year 2010/2011. My company has deducted the following taxes: ₹80 in December and January, and ₹150 in February and March.

Is there anybody available to assist me with this matter?

Thank you.

Hi,

I am currently working with a team to review and design a compensation and benefits structure for a company. I would appreciate any slides or information on how this could be done, especially the methodology or approach.

Thanks,

Dear Chitra,

Please tell me the PT slab in Gujarat. There were two minor changes: one from 6000 to 9000, tax Rs. 40, and the other from 6000 to 9000, tax Rs. 80. Also, from Rs. 9000 to 12000, tax Rs. 60, and the other from Rs. 9000 to 12000, tax Rs. 150. Why don't I understand? Please explain.

Thank You

If there is no employer-employee relationship, and the stipend is being paid to compensate students for academic expenses, as in the case of CA/CS articleship, does the trainer company still have the authority to deduct professional tax in the state of Gujarat.

I have a query regarding the Professional Tax Slab. If an employee has a salary of Rs. 10,000/- and he joins a company from the 11th, and his salary for that month will be Rs. 6,774/-, now if he is from Gujarat, how much Professional Tax will be deducted?

What I assume according to the Tax Slab is that the Professional Tax deduction from the salary of Rs. 6774/- should be Rs. 80/-, so the net salary should be Rs. 6694/-. Please let me know if I am correct. The Professional Tax slab for Gujarat is as follows:

(i) Less than Rs. 3000/ Zero
(ii) Rs. 3000/- or more but less than Rs. 6000/- 20/-
(iii) Rs. 6000/- or more but less than Rs. 9000/- 80/-
(iv) Rs. 9000/- or more but less than Rs. 12000/- 150/-
(v) Rs. 12000/- or more 200/-

Please review and let me know if this is accurate.

Dear Rachana,

In my company (Automobile Manufacturing), we have a first-time apprentice. So, please clarify if we should deduct Professional Tax on the stipend. We are paying him Rs. 12,500 per month. I am very confused and have read through all the amendments. Please provide clarification.

Thank you.
