Why do you want to leave your current job?...this is the most obvious question asked during your job changes because the recruiter may like to understand the attitude, behavior and priorities of an individual for change and he wants to make sure that he selects the right candidate with stable mindset.

You must give a logical and practical answer to this question. Never point out negative factors about your employer and don't show that you are in hurry for change. Avoid quoting bad salary or bad profile or non-cooperative boss as the reason for change. You can tell about your career goals, profile & responsibility change priorities, learning & growth opportunity as few reasons to change. If you are changing the industry then explain about your specific skills that you think you can utilize better in changed sector.

Although these tips are not enough for describing reasons for change as it depends on case to case basis, still it can fuel your thoughts to find suitable answers and get prepared better.

Telling about yourself is an important and common situation during interview; one should be well prepared and structure his answer and probable clarifications on the points that may come out from the initial talks. I too agree with yaasmin, it is not the matter to think what is the answer to be given, but you should have intelligence how to tackle questions. give the brainy answer and don't change your answer through out.

HI All,
I have a question !!
As the companies ask why do u want to leave your present job.The Candidate should also ask "why there is a vacancy in your company is it a expansion plan or replacement.if it is a replacement why the previous employee left.What is the median tenure in the company /Department."By asking these questions the candidate can have an idea about the company,policies,Behavior of supervisor etc.The Employer can do the reference check on candidate to check his suitability but the employee can not check it before joining.is it fair ????????

I also face the situations where i also replied the interviewer that i am looking for better career prospects, to which without hesitating he told me that its sure that even you would leave our company looking for other better career prospects. Please help me out, as to what exactly the reply should be given so as to create a positive impact on the interviewer

Dear sarveshbansal,

Well I can really understand the level of stress and anxiety when you do appear before such panel, but to excel in these interviews, I can provide you some basic tips and hope you to ovehaul the same.

1.Think before you act: Before comig out with any answer, always keep yourself calm and composed and think for a while before you pass on the judgement, because the Interviewer would be the same person who would have gone through all these steps before succeeding in one of the Interviews.
2.Do a SWOT analysis of yourself: Means Strength of yours like Achievements etc, Weakness and measures to curb the same, and oppurtunities- New assignments (if any worked upon) and finally the Threats-From external environment.
3. Never Lie, and never act differently in an Interview.
4. If questions are tricky, never place/give direct answers and always tackle the situations firmly.
5. Take everyday as a new assignment and do rework before the mirror-Self Interrospection-To overcome fear of the Interview.

Hope this tips would really help you. Also request you to be wise and not post such questions as it automatically comes out with your experience whilst you attend the Interviews.

These are the irritating questions. There is no satisfying answer to i. Even if you are honest, even then the interviewer will suspect -put a supplementary question, and you will be caught in a trap.
Just answer them that "you deserve a better incumbent and here I am"

Be straightforward but avoid negative comments about past employers in the job interview.
Don't bad-mouth the company, your manager or colleagues, it puts you in a bad light. Keep it positive and make the reason for a leaving a constructive one such as a new challenge, exciting opportunity, increased responsibility or learning possibility.
"I have reached the ceiling in my particular job, and I am ready for more responsibility"
"After a number of years in my last position I am now looking for a new experience where I can contribute and grow in a bigger environment"
Avoid stating your salary as a prime motivator for change.
However location is a perfectly acceptable reason for moving.
"I am relocating to this area for family reasons and left my job to make this move"
"I was spending hours each day commuting. I would prefer to be closer to home"
