Hi
I joined one s/w company (X) in 2005 at salary mere 4k per month. After 6-MONTHS I got very good offer from another company (Y). But X was not ready to relive me before 2-months. That time Y was ready to accept me immediately without notice period.
So without thinking anything much I left X without serving notice period and joined Y. As on date I am with Y for more than 6Yrs. I want to move out of Y.
Now the problem is, most of the employers need relieving letter from all previous companies. So how to handle the X-company Matter where I worked only 6-months and don't have relieving letter.
Note: I have all other documents (offer letter, confirmation letter, last month payslip with PF account number) from the employer X.
Please answer.

It depends on the Company and its policies; especially the HR deptt - whether to insist on such relics.

Hello Spy,
If X was your first job, I think you can drop the name from the list on CV. You can verbally explain the job role in your interview but don't make it evident on CV.
If they ask you why have you not put it up on the CV, you can say it was just a 4 month relation, however, I mentioned it as I learnt so and so from my that job.
Secondly, if you put up an experience of 4months with some company, it sends out a negative impression. So one needs to be careful about which expereinces to put on CV and which not.
Thirdly, since you have worked with Y for over 6 years and there was no problem faced from X, I think the new employer can be sufficed by showing offer/appointment letter, salary slips that you did work there and had to switch without releiving letter because of a better future growth. Again you'll have to present this in such manner that it is not negatively portrayed.

If you are sure that your experience from the present company would fetch you a job, then the best suggestion for this situation is, not to show the first company in your CV. However find some substantial reasons for the gap, if questioned in an interview. Good luck!

Dear Spy_071
I agree with the above opinions.
A company does not talk about its "failed" products and ventures or losses;
a movie star does not talk about his flop movies;
so why should an applicant discuss something that gives a negative impression.
There can be so many reasons for leaving a job; and none of them can be cited as criminal. You found a good opportunity but that company was not willing to relieve you; so why let this event affect your career.
Ms. Ankita Shah has explained the practical aspect in detail; and I go by it.
Best wishes for your future assignments.
Warm regards.
