The workmen and employees covered under CLRA Act are being paid under Minimum wages which includes Basic+DA+VDA according to respective state. The food allowances or other allowances can be paid excess of minimum wages rate in the salary. Do not modify minimum wages as per wish than the original structure.

Is't 'food allow. paid in cash a part of salary monthly or food coupons or subsidised food provided during duty hours. I would suggest read the definitions provided under different acts such as CLRA, Factories Act, Shops & Estts.Act, EPF, ESI, Minimum Wages, Payment of Wages, Gratuity, Bonus etc. before deciding.
