Can someone help me with the details of certification courses in HR which are available online or in Abu Dhabi? I have completed my Masters in Human Resource Management and have more than 4 years of experience.

Hello Adnan,

I am a graduate in Psychology, and I have 5 years of work experience in Abu Dhabi in Administration. I am currently employed as an Office Administrator, and part of my responsibilities would require me to handle HR-related work. Although nothing too technical, I am keen to use this opportunity to enhance my skills and obtain a certification.

An MBA is too expensive, and I find it too general as I am looking for only HRM/HRD certification. The only institute I know that offers that is Middlesex University (MA in HRM). However, recently I have come across the PHR/SPHR certification.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the two, and would it make sense for me to pursue this certification even though I have not done my MBA?

Thanks, Amanda

Good morning,

For those of you interested in HR certification programs, please see the following IHRME-Welcome to the world of Human Resource Management Education. We offer a 4-course certification in HR. Each course has an exam, and after you pass all four courses, the Institute will certify you.

One of the main differences in this program is that it is NOT laden with requirements to understand USA or UK HR and labor laws, which are irrelevant in MENA and the sub-continent. Furthermore, we don't have years of service requirements to sit the exam.

Please contact me directly for more specific info at .

Hello Adnan,

My question is somehow similar to Amanda's. I have a BA in English Literature, and I have worked as an Executive Assistant and Personal Assistant to Directors. Part of my responsibilities was also handling HR-related work. I have 10 years of work experience in the administration field. Although I've been promoted to a customer service manager last year, I still feel like pursuing a career in HR. I need to shape my experience and improve it with a certification. An MBA would be too expensive for me now. I would like to know if there are any institutions or universities in Abu Dhabi that offer HR courses.

To be quite honest, I'm not into online learning. I prefer a classroom setting with interaction with a tutor and a group. Please let me know if there are any institutions in Abu Dhabi that offer evening classes and a certified HR degree at a reasonable cost.

Many thanks.

Asian HR Board provides two certification programs:

a. Fellowship Program (14 months)

b. Licentiate Program (6 months)

The Fellowship Program is for people with more than 4 years of experience in HR. It helps them become change leaders and have an impact on the development of HR. The program involves 11 certification courses, along with various live projects that help participants link their learning to practical applications in different organizations. Their support in the publication work helps in impacting the HR society on a broad scale. The members associated with such batches hold various strategic positions in different companies like Infosys, Maruti, Reliance, LG, etc.

Similarly, the Licentiate program is more suitable for individuals with 0-4 years of experience. It helps them become specialists in various domains like compensation & benefits, learning & development, etc., by providing them with 6 courses at subsidized prices.

These members also participate in various advocacy activities like blog participation and HR event organization. AHRB operates these programs in Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bangalore. There are only 10-15 seats available for each course in every location.

Good evening,

The Institute for Human Resource Education (iHRME) was formed in Carefree, Arizona, by Dr. John S. Maxwell, PhD, SPHR, FAHRI, as an alternative certification. He had been actively engaged in SHRM and the World Body for HR.

His concern, and those of the others who supported him, was that for practitioners outside the USA, learning HR law that was country-specific was not an added value.

iHRME has delivered the certification in four 1-week courses, each with a 100-question exam after completion.

Having taught the SHRM course, Essentials in Human Resources, I can tell you that the Generalist course, the first course in the iHRME certification, is not only on par with the body of knowledge supported by SHRM and HRCI, but it also provides a stronger understanding of the business environment.

If you would like more information, please contact John Maxwell at John@capita-global.com. Capita-Global is the consulting organization that Dr. Maxwell formed. You can also visit the websites Capita-Global - Home and www.ihrme.org for further details.

Dr. John runs courses in Egypt, Kuwait, Libya, Hungary, and the UAE.

Best regards,

Bruncha

Hi, I need clarification on HR courses. I am an HRMS (IT professional) with 4+ years of experience in implementing/analyzing HRMS systems in different companies in the UAE. I would like to transition into a purely HR functional role, such as an HR generalist. Can anyone suggest if obtaining the CHRP certification would be the right choice to further my career? Currently, I am exploring opportunities and feel that now is the ideal time to pursue additional courses. Please guide me.

Thanks
