EIA is carried out for a new project or modification of an existing industry before its commissioning. If the industry runs, what are all the impacts on the environment around, is the outcome of the assessment. This is a mandatory requirement by the Ministry of Environment for getting approval for the project/industry to be set up.
Mr. Raghunathan had given a perfect reply. EIA is not a kind of copy-paste. It has to be specifically done for a particular area/industry, and the assessment will vary based on the type of industry and the location of it.
