Hello,

Dear Vinayak,

I am planning to do SAP-HR. I am from Mumbai. I have done MBA-HR and am currently working as a Recruitment Consultant with 3.8 years of experience. I would like to know the following details:

a) What is more important: knowledge or certification?
b) Is certification necessary?
c) What is the future demand like?
d) How quickly can I get a job?

I await your reply.

Thanks & Regards,
Ehtesham

Dear Ehtesham,

a) If you have knowledge with certification, you can easily enter Tier 1 companies.
Note: If you have experience in SAP HR, it is not mandatory to do SAP HR certification.

b) Certification is necessary to get into SAP HR. Without certification, no one will call you for the interview for an entry level position.

c) Future demand is high because earlier, Peoplesoft had more demand for HR. However, now Peoplesoft has merged with ORACLE. SAP is a unique product; no other product can beat it.

d) Getting a job is difficult at present, but you have to read a lot and do exercises. The market is picking up slowly, and eventually, you can find a job.

Vinayak (GURU)

Hi, this is Poonam. I have 3 years of work experience and have completed an MBA in HR. I am looking for a job in HR but am considering doing a SAP HR course in December 2011. I would like to know a few things before enrolling for SAP.

1. What's the difference in doing a SAP course from reputable institutes like Lethan Genovate, Siemens, BPCL, NIIT, or any institute? Do good companies actually offer placements for students who have taken courses from these institutes?
2. Are there overseas opportunities for SAP HR?
3. If I do it from Siemens or BPCL, do they hire people from their own institutes?
4. Is there any new course related to HR, or is SAP still in demand?
5. Where did you do your SAP course? Was it at Siemens? Are you currently working with Siemens?

Kindly let me know if there are any job opportunities in HR. I previously worked as an HR executive in a pharmaceutical company and am now with an engineering company. I am looking to change jobs.

Hi Vinayak,

I am working in the HR Department, handling a generalist profile for 6 years, having completed an MBA in HR (part-time). In my previous organization, as SAP was being implemented in HR, we were part of the Core Team responsible for the implementation, testing, and coordinating with consultants to incorporate our HR systems into the SAP systems. I have experience working in SAP HR post-implementation. In April '10, we went live, and I managed the employee database in SAP from April 2010 to October 2011.

I would like to learn more about the course and understand what type of job I should pursue because companies are reaching out to me for SAP functional consultant positions.
