Dear All,
I am an MBA graduate from 2007. I am looking to enhance my qualifications beyond an MBA in HR, which is why I have chosen to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management. Can I enroll in NIPM's PGDPM course through distance education? Is PGDPM considered a valuable qualification?
Kindly provide your suggestions.
I am looking forward to your responses.
Thank you.

Hi,
You already have an MBA in HR, so I'm not able to understand why you want to pursue a PGD again. I would suggest considering a fellowship program in advanced Human Resources if you are looking to further enhance your qualifications. An MBA course typically covers all aspects of human resources.
At the end of the day, the decision is yours to make!

Heard of a PG diploma from ISTD? Seriously, your decision to join a course in Personnel Management again is a waste of time, money, and effort. Consider enrolling in a PG course in Labour Law, a PG course in Training, or something similar. Alternatively, you could apply for a Doctorate in HR, although industry experience would be beneficial to support you in that endeavor.

Hi Revathi,
You haven't mentioned what your present qualification is. However, considering you have an MBA, I would suggest specializing in your specific HR domain. For example, if you are into training, you can pursue a training specialization from ISTD. If you are involved in compliance, you can consider an IR/Labour Law course. Please let me know your profile so that I can provide you with more accurate information.

Hi Revathi,
Your education and experience suggest that you are poised for a successful career. However, if you really don't want to get into HR academics, I would suggest you increase your years of experience. As per industry standards, you have the required qualifications. You should try to work in core HR functions, which I believe you will gain in the coming years. This is your grooming period. Learn the traits of the profession meticulously, and if required, go for an advanced degree (doctorate) after some years of work.
All the best. Hope it helps!
