On What Criteria Do We Evaluate Student/Summer Trainees

vm1980
What are the criteria on which we decide to evaluate summer/student training in companies? What is the procedure and criteria for giving a Pre-placement Offer (PPO)? Please share knowledge if somebody knows about the formal criteria for the same.

Thank you.

In my previous company, we used to have summer trainees (technical) go through a rigorous training program coupled with real-life application work. They were also given specially tailored work that was designed to evaluate logical/analytical/problem-solving and other critical future job success parameters.

Based on the performance and the standards we had created internally for recruits, we used to make offers to join our team at the end of their studies.

Hi Vaibhav,

In my previous organizations, we had the following system:

1. Summer/winter projects: The assignments were given pertaining to actual problems in the market or functional areas that required analysis. Students had to give a presentation and a report at the end of two months to the Top Management Team.

2. Mentoring: These students were rated by the departmental Heads and mentors.

3. Desired competency profile:

4. In some cases, especially in marketing projects involving retail or customer surveys, we gathered discrete feedback from retailers, distributors, or customers. This approach provided insight into the students' approach and attitude. I have found that some students were more focused on filling out forms quickly rather than on finding solutions or identifying bottlenecks. It's also important to assess if these students are comfortable working with others, as they will need to collaborate in the future.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Cheerio,

P.S. Hey, you are from SCMHRD, which batch? I'm from the 1995 batch. Great!
