Salary Raises In 2008

Hi,
What could be the percentage hikes in salaries this year. I work in a IT company and we have our salary linked appraisals in June/July time frame.
If I could get some idea.

Well I don't think so. Last year the hikes were pretty good. This year it will be tight.

Salary hikes will definitely be affected due to the appreciation in rupee but i think it would be consistent with those of the previous year

ya you are correct but it also depends upon the revenue generated by your particular organization.

Hi Payal,
If you are tigress (Champ) in your team then you can have a good appraisal around 25 -30%, if not then limit your expectations in between the 15-20.
Most often company comes up with an interim salary hike for the good employees in order to retain good employees.
Check your self..... Companies want good work & then they reward accordingly.
Rupee appreciation has been discounted in the market now the companies are making provision against the same,,,, when some one enters into the RC.(Red Contract )
Well it also depends in which Co. you are working , Job Profile, etc..

Hi Payal,
The salary depends upon the performance appraisal score that you get and the final score after bel curve...the percentage slab is decided by the co. depending upon the yearly turn over( as very well said by Rakesh)..then if they go go for market allignment then u can expect good salary...

I wonder if Rakesh is right, then the best employee gets 30-40%hike. and others get 15-20%.. then how can you use the bell curve..
whats the use...
when we already know how much hike are we going to give to the employees???

30-40% hike for the Best Employee is not fixed.... Actually it has no limits, Whether the guy is in the operations / sales front etc .. Each process / End has its own value... company avoid to get a new employee ,,, training ,,lots of etc.
Yes.. you are right the person itself knows how much increment he will be having in future wrt his work.....
Some times good employee his under valued due to his/ her late back attitude .. One should immediately respond to the discrimination /s .

IT Segments has different growth trends.... & reward policies.
Well apart from the working hard do smart job also... You will be having goooooooooooooooooooood Hikeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
