Addressing Rude Behavior and Employee Relations in the Workplace

pallavi_12
Hi Friends,

I am working in a company where most of the employees have been working for 3-4 years but do not know how to behave with others. They try to dominate newcomers even though the newcomers may be more experienced. These individuals are very close to the senior management, which is one of the main reasons for their behavior, along with their past performance.

We, as HR, are told to tolerate this behavior, which I completely disagree with. Every employee should be taught to behave properly, as performance should not excuse rude behavior. This issue is a significant factor contributing to the high attrition rate in our company.

Could anyone provide suggestions on how to handle this situation?

Thanks,
Pallavi

Hi Pallavi,

I hope you are doing well.

I agree with you that the first thing everyone should know is to respect others. Domination is something that can be found everywhere, but it doesn't mean that if you are senior, you can trouble juniors or try to dominate and command them. It is very wrong that this is happening in our company, but you can talk to high officials about this and try to overcome it.

I guess you, being an HR professional, have much more power than anyone else in terms of disciplinary behavior. The appraisal system is a tool in your hands to let these employees know where they stand. Above all, I understand that you, as an HR head, must report directly to the company head. Therefore, you can convey your feelings to your HR head, who will take care of these employees.
