USER ATTITUDE RATING

Sid,
Hi!
I am just curious about the method you are using in arriving at the User Attitude Rating that this site attaches near the member's profile on the left side of the page of every post.
ATTITUDE is such a big SUBJECTIVE word. USER ATTITUDE brings certain color to the terminology.
It appears to me that there will be a lot of subjectivity involved in the process of scoring UNLESS a FORMULA is used, or you KNOW the member personally.
What do you use to gauge or rate the members of this site?
Best wishes.

Hi Ed,

The user attitude rating on the profile follows a simple formula. It lets each of the members to rate any of the other members in a scale of 1-10 ONCE. 1 meaning bad... 10 meaning good. The script then averages all the votes and display the overall attitude rating.

The attitude rating was introduced to distinguish the people who have helped out many of the members of the community thus gathering better rating votes from them. Since the community is primarily formed to help out members who are in need of assistance from their peers and seniors the attitude rating is a good way of distinguishing the people who have taken their time out or gone out of the way to help others who were in need. The more a member helps the more his/her chances of getting better ratings. The system applies to all.

However if you have any better formula or calculation method in mind which you think can more precisely scale such ratings please do forward it to me. I would love to review it and implement it on the site. We do want the best for our members.

Thanks for your continued contribution and help to the community.

Best regards,

Sid
