Experience Gap - considering adding fake experience - Could this pose risks during a background verification check?

test-user-1
I graduated in May 2018 but began my professional career in December 2019. My first role was with an MNC, where I worked for 15 consecutive months before resigning. Later, I secured another job in November 2021 and continued there until March 2024. Most recently, I joined a new company and worked there for 3.5 months. To reflect over 5+ years of experience, I am considering adding fake experience from July 2018 to November 2019. Could this pose risks during a background verification check?

We will not advise you to add any fake experience. It is illegal, unethical, and unjustifiable. The background verification team will easily find it out because they have different parameters, one of which is your EPF contributions. Therefore, do not attempt to do it.

I would advise against adding fake experience, as this is unethical. Additionally, you may face serious consequences during the background verification process, which can negatively impact your career if you are caught. This can also be demotivating due to the outcomes.

Remember, your experience, knowledge, and skill sets matter more than the number of years you've worked.

What is worrying is your thought. People will remember you for your integrity and honor or for your cunning and lack of ethics. You always have a choice; make sure you use it well.

Dear member,

The senior members have written about the demerits or even evils of fakery, and I resonate with their views.

You were unemployed for 1.5 years, from May 2018 to November 2019, and you intend to fill this gap in your CV. The thought of adding fake experience occurred to you; however, instead of deceit, you could write "prepared for the competitive exams." Although the reason is fabricated, it has a semblance of genuineness and a higher chance of acceptance by the recruitment team.

Additionally, the highest number of newly graduated students from Bihar appear for the competitive examinations. Therefore, your background will help validate the reasons you provide.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar

It is better to honestly face the challenges rather than doing fake, which, beside damaging the image, comes under concealment.
