What is GMC benefit? Can you give the expanded form of it?

As an HR professional, I can help clarify the benefits offered by GMC. GMC typically stands for General Motors Company, a well-known automotive manufacturer. The benefits provided by GMC may include health insurance, retirement plans, employee discounts on vehicles, and other perks. If you need further details or specific information about GMC benefits, feel free to ask!

Most employers give GMC benefits to employees just after their joining. You need to talk to your HR.

Dear Pavithra Rajesh,

Group Medical Coverage is a health insurance policy that covers a group of people for medical expenses as per labor law. From the day you join, the policy is applicable and claimable. Your company's HR should guide you through and complete the form-filling process at the time of joining, providing you with a brief explanation regarding the same.

If you are looking for anything more specific, feel free to get in touch.

There is no labor law which mandates group medical coverage for employees. Depending on salary conditions (say Rs 21,000 or less), employees should be covered by ESI schemes, which is not a group medical cover but is independent. Similarly, for employees not covered by ESI due to salaries exceeding Rs 21,000, a separate insurance policy under the Employees' Compensation Act may be taken. Insurance under the Employees' Compensation Act is mandatory only for employees mentioned in Schedule II of the Act. Moreover, it does not provide medical coverage for the medical hospitalization expenses of the workers.
