The maximum hours of overtime permitted for a factory shall depend upon the state rules in this regard. The Central Act specifies that the maximum hours, inclusive of overtime, in a day should not exceed 10 hours. The same in a week shall not exceed 60 hours, and the total overtime hours in a quarter should not be more than 50 hours. When Section 65 of the Factories Act empowers the state government to exempt the provisions relating to hours of work, such extension or exemption, as the case may be, shall be subject to the following conditions.
1. The total number of hours, including overtime, should not exceed 12 hours.
2. The total number of hours, including overtime, in a week should not exceed 60 hours.
3. The total overtime hours in a quarter should not exceed 75.
Please check the respective state rules and confirm the same.
