PF contribution on prorata salary or set limit Rs.15000 which ever is more.

In a given situation if an employee continuing to be covered under EPF scheme (as its member even after salary beyond 15K pm) fails to attend duty in a month & remains without pay for 10 days. He get prorata salary for 20 odd days which comes to say Rs. 16000/- inclusive of ‘basic wages’ and allowances liable for PF contributions as per definition u/s “Section 2(b) comprising of all emoluments which are earned by an employee while on duty or on leave or on holidays with wages in either case in accordance with the terms of the contract of employment and which are paid or payable in cash to him.



Shall the contribution @12 % be levied on paid salary / wage upon the limit of Rs.15000/- pm (comprising of the above defined emoluments) to the extent & available wrt 20 days prorata paid days or it shall be on prorata of 15000/- pm on itself.
