Have to get a go-ahead from the audit department regarding paying wages to contractual labours for week's off days?

I am Sachin, an HR professional. Please clarify whether we need to obtain approval from the audit department regarding the payment of wages to contractual laborers for the week's off days. I need assistance - is it mandatory to pay wages for off days? Kindly share your views and opinions, and also please inform me if there is any notification regarding the same.

Please let us know whether the contractual laborers deployed by you are daily rated or monthly rated.

Sir, contractual laborers are deployed by a contractor on a daily-rated basis as per minimum wages.

Daily rate of statutory minimum wages includes the wages for the weekly off. Therefore, there is no necessity to pay wages for the weekly off to daily-rated employees.
