An organization asking me to pay the money as I failed to join that organization after accepting the offer letter,

I received an offer letter from a so-called company. In the offer letter, they mentioned that I should pay 1.5 lakh if I don't join the company after accepting the offer letter. I accepted the offer letter but did not join the company. Now, they are asking me to pay the sum, or they will send a legal notice within 48 hours. What should I do? Should I pay the money?

They sent me the offer letter via email. I printed it out, signed it, and then sent it back via email. Please let me know if you require any further information.

You mentioned that you only had a telephone interview and then received the offer letter via email. I suggest verifying the legitimacy of the company from which you received the offer. It is highly irregular for a company to ask for money if you decide not to accept a job after already accepting the offer letter.
