Transferring of PF and Gratuity - changed my Job from Central Public Sector Unit (PSU) to Autonomous R&D Centre, Govt of India

Recently, I have changed my job from a Central Public Sector Unit (PSU) to an Autonomous R&D Centre under the Government of India. My question pertains to the transfer of PF and Gratuity. The present organization states that I should withdraw the PF and Gratuity since I have been recruited anew. However, I applied through the proper channel and submitted my relieving letter as well. My friends are suggesting that I should transfer the PF (the present organization offers both EPF and NPS) and Gratuity.

Kindly guide me on whether to transfer or withdraw. If transferring is the recommended option, please suggest the relevant rules.

Discuss the issue with HR of the present establishment. If they have enrolled you in EPF, then the transfer option is available to you.

Dear Mr. Sharma,

Thank you very much for your response. The present organization offers both NPS and EPF, but they are insisting on NPS only due to the percentage of contribution. In such a case, what should I do?

With regards,
Ramesh

If the employee has declared at the time of joining by furnishing Form 11 that he already has an active UAN, then the establishment has to continue with the same UAN in normal situations. Your HR can best reply by questioning the reason for insisting on NPS when you already have an active EPF account. This is because withdrawing from the EPF account would mean a break in service, and at the end of retirement, the service benefits from previous employment will lapse.
