Maternity Calculations - can we extend the maternity leave if required?

Hi Team,

I request your assistance regarding maternity benefits. Could you please help me understand how to calculate the pay, the duration of benefits, and whether we have the option to extend maternity leave if necessary?

A woman is allowed either 12 weeks or 26 weeks of maternity leave as permissible by law. Maternity leave cannot exceed this period. However, she can extend her leave beyond the maternity leave period, subject to approval by the employer and deducted from her leave balance.
