Confused About PF Transfer to a New Job? Here's How to Navigate the Process

Dear Seniors,

Greetings. I have a query regarding PF transfer to a new establishment.

1. Does 'Form No. 13' still required, or providing UAN no. in the new establishment, or in other words, continuing the same UAN no. in the new establishment will transfer PF A/c and the amount contributed?

2. There is an option in the "Member UAN portal" for members to transfer the old PF account to the new PF account. Is it necessary to follow this process, or providing UAN in the new company will work, and the transfer process will be done?

3. Will the request for my PF transfer claim be sent to my previous employer when I provide my previous establishment UAN to the new one?

Thank you in advance.

Dear Gaurav,

Firstly, you need to apply for the transfer of old PF accumulation to the new one through the "Member UAN portal." It is the best way to get the transfer done quickly. When you apply, the format itself should be in Form 13.

Yes, you need to follow the process on the "Member UAN portal" as it expedites the transfer process. Additionally, the new company will provide you with their new PF account number, which includes their own state code, regional code, establishment code, and provident fund number. After receiving the new details, you need to complete the online transfer process.

After you submit the transfer claim request, it will be sent to your previous employer. They will certify it and send a copy to the PF department for further processing.

By doing this, your old UAN will be deactivated, and the new UAN issued by your new employer will take effect. This change occurs due to some glitches in the newly introduced EPFO system.

(Sr. kindly correct if the interpretation is wrong)

Thank you for your response "ravibele". But there is only one UAN number. The current employer uses the same UAN number from the previous employer for contributions, and they have also provided a new PF number.

My query is, when a new employer uses the same UAN and provides a new PF number, will my old PF number, which was already linked to the UAN, be transferred? If yes, do we need to file Form 13 or log in to the "member portal" to file a transfer claim?

Thank you,
Gaurav

Dear Mr. Gaurav, when you join a new establishment where PF is applicable, the new employer will obtain Form 11 from you. In this form, you will mention your previous UAN and other details. Based on Form 11, the UAN will be linked with the present establishment. KYC, Aadhar, etc., will be matched. Here, it is not necessary to fill Form 13 for the transfer of PF.

Exempted Establishments for EPF

If it is an exempted establishment for EPF, meaning the present establishment has its own PF trust, you will need to send Form 13 to transfer the PF from the old establishment to the PF Trust account. By linking the UAN, EPS will be automatically transferred.

The same process applies from an Exempted trust to RPFC, where Form 13 is required for the transfer of EPF.

UAN Linking Issues

If the UAN is not linked due to incorrect name/DOB or any other reason, the new employer has to issue a new UAN. You can fill out the form online to transfer the old UAN to the new UAN.

Old Accounts Without UAN

If there is an old account without a UAN, fill out Form 13 to transfer the PF.

I hope this is clear.
