EDLI benefit on death case with 2 years of service

Sir, please tell me about the calculation of EDLI in a death case. A member joined us on 1/09/2014 and died on 14/09/2016. What is the EDLI fund?

Dear Rakesh Negi,

EDLI compensation has 2 parts.

1. 30 times of salary on which EDLI premium is paid. (Subject to a salary ceiling of Rs. 15,000).

2. 50% of the average deposit in PF for total service and the last twelve months, whichever is less; subject to a ceiling of Rs. 1,50,000.

i.e., the ceiling of the above two will be Rs. 4,50,000 and Rs. 1,50,000 respectively, and the total ceiling is Rs. 6,00,000.

If anyone has served 30 years in a company and retires at the age of 58 and receives a pension according to the EPF Pension rules, but continues working with the same employer, contributing towards EPF (both employer and employee contributions) without any break, and then passes away at the age of 61 on 21.04.2016 with a salary of Rs. 63,000 (Basic plus DA), is the spouse eligible for the payment of EDLI? What would be the amount of the payment along with the calculation sheet?
