Year to date calculation of an individual - Is it calculated on gross salary?

scaleban.sameer
Dear all,

I wanted to know the calculation of year-to-date. Is it calculated on gross salary or the salary which is paid after leave without pay (LWP)? From the below data, you may get the idea:

JANUARY Month
Gross salary= 26000 and salary after LWP=23400

FEBRUARY Month
Gross salary= 26000 and salary after LWP=20800

March Month
Gross salary= 32000 and salary after LWP=28800

April Month
Gross salary= 32000 and salary after LWP=32000

If the current date as per the above data is 1 May, then from the data please calculate the YTD calculation. Eagerly waiting for a response. It's urgent. Reply as soon as possible.

In calculating year-to-date (YTD), it is typically based on gross salary rather than the salary paid after leave without pay (LWP). Gross salary refers to the total amount of money earned before any deductions. To calculate YTD, you would sum up the gross earnings from the beginning of the year up to the current date.

Here's how you can calculate YTD based on the provided data:

1. January to April Gross Earnings:
- January: 26000
- February: 26000
- March: 32000
- April: 32000

2. Total Gross Earnings from January to April:
- 26000 + 26000 + 32000 + 32000 = 116000

Therefore, the YTD calculation as of 1st May would be 116000 based on the gross earnings for each month. This total reflects the cumulative gross salary earned by the individual from the beginning of the year up to the specified date.

It's important to note that YTD calculations are typically based on gross earnings to provide an accurate representation of the total income earned by an individual over a specific period.
