Increase In Retirement Age In Karnataka For Private Sector

Balasubramanyan
Dear Sir
Please clarify whether the proposed extension of retirement age from 58 to 60 yrs in karnataka is applicable beyond workmen (I mean officers cadre).
THANKS
Srinath Sai Ram
It is applicable only to Workmen who come under the purview of Industrial Employment Standing Orders Act, 1946

Please go through the GOVERNMENT ORDERs because the Government can not distinguish the age of retirement with different cadre of employees since Standing orders for workmen there is another Manuel or Service rules for other category of employees.
It can amend the ACT as such but not as per category of employment. Please look into it.

The Amendment is under"The Karnataka Industrial Employment(Standing Orders) Rules, 1961 enhancing the Retirement age from 58 years to 60 Years
