Resignation On Day 1

Dear All,

I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I have joined a company as of this morning. This is my first job ever. However, I feel the recruiters haven't been very clear about the profile that I seem to have signed up for. Having seen the reality of the situation, I do not wish to continue and do not plan to return for the second day of work there.

I understand that to some, this may seem unfair and irresponsible on my part, with the HR department having spent all the time processing my documentation. However, it would be futile to continue in a job from which neither I nor my employer stand to gain anything.

I spoke with the HR Department and was informed that I would not be allowed to resign during the training period, which will last for 3 months, after which I would need to serve a notice period of 2 months. Alternatively, I may abscond at any time during the training.

This again seems like a futile exercise since I do not wish to spend 5 months in the resignation process, nor do I wish to be labeled as absconding.

Is there any other alternative to absconding? I do not wish to jeopardize my future by being labeled as such. Besides, the company is a big MNC, and I might like to explore options there in the future.

Please advise.

Regards

Discuss with HR about what you want and how the recruiter's impression and explanation of the job resulted in a square peg in a round hole. Submit your resignation in a written application explaining the facts but not blaming the company in any way. The company cannot force you to undergo training, etc., and label you an absconder after all; it is only day 1. The chance of returning there for another job appears difficult presently. Make your intentions clear and leave. Do not take or keep any company assets.
