Dear Mekala,
Which sector does your firm belong to ? Even though the base might remain static, the policy would differ depending on the sector. Police verification isn't a must every role, but in service sector, client facing role needs it .
Back ground verification is essentially a process to validate the data provided by the candidate and is not an investigation on his or her past.
Checks on social footprints are subjective. Power or manufacturing might not be sensitive to it. Where as an employee sharing details on Facebook might pose as a threat to Banks and other service sectors.
Looking forward to hear from you.
