Strong doubt that the Boss is leaking the sales enquiries to the competitors

In my organization, there are 5 employees responsible for sales activities and one boss. All 5 employees are relatively new, while the boss has been working for the past 14 years. However, no junior employee has been able to stay with the company for more than a year or two. Currently, my existing team of 5 members has a strong suspicion that the boss is leaking sales inquiries to competitors, which is hindering their ability to close deals. The management shares this suspicion, but there is no concrete proof against him. Can you please suggest what my course of action should be in this case?

You can strengthen the sales goals with the boss and make it clear that non-performance can lead to termination. If there is a leakage, then he would have to decide if he needs the job. Otherwise, you could determine this by the way he works after this.

The matter needs to be viewed very seriously as it involves organizational interest. My suggestion is that you should engage the services of a professional investigation agency to track the activities of the boss and provide a report. If the investigation confirms the suspicion against the boss, appropriate action to separate him from the service of the organization should be taken. This should be done on an urgent basis.

1. I suggest letting the superior of this boss give him a 50% higher sales target for the next six months. Management should monitor his achievement against the target each month. This criteria will prove if the boss under suspicion is really interested in working honestly.

2. Change the department of this boss and see the flow of inquiries; this can give you some clues.

3. Access his official email account in his absence; this can also give you some clues about incoming inquiries to your company. Then see how many such inquiries have been responded to and how many have not. Check if the person is overquoting, regretting any such inquiries so as to make way for competitors.

4. Keep in touch with your regular customers and tactfully try to know from them if they had made any business inquiries in the recent past with your company and how the response was.

5. Lastly, appoint a private detective.

1. The boss is already under the scanner due to suspicion that he is compromising company interest.

2. The suspicion has to be irrefutably confirmed.

3. The surest way would be to have the boss's activities tracked and investigated through a professional agency in strict confidence. Normally, the investigating agency will provide its report in two weeks' time.

4. The various other measures suggested are either time-consuming or may not yield the desired results. Besides, the element of confidentiality that is required in such matters involving the integrity of people in higher levels will be lost. Mind you, the suspicions have to be established without a shred of doubt.

5. Clearly, this is an issue relating to ethics and values, and hence the matter has to be viewed seriously, and action taken with a sense of urgency and sensitivity.

Sir,

I have worked for 8 years at the dealership. After giving a one-month notice period, the employer is not signing the PF form. We have tried getting the bank manager's signature, but the PF office has rejected the form. Is there another solution to withdraw PF without the employer's signature?
