Hello All Seniors,
I would like to bring one point here to discuss regarding the notice period and relieving of an employee. I work with a Pvt. Ltd company wherein 100 employees are working at present. One of our employees has resigned due to pursuing higher education. Her notice period was 2 months, and she had asked to be relieved after serving 45 days of notice. Management did not allow her to leave early, even though she was ready to compensate the salary in lieu of the short notice period.
After waiting for 45 days with no change in management's stance, she registered a complaint with the police, and yesterday, three policemen came to the office. This has put me (as I work here in HR) under tremendous pressure and guilt about the image of the company and the kind of policies we follow.
I would really request you to let me know: Does the management of any company play any role in the relieving of an employee? Whose responsibility is it for the employee's relieving and full and final settlement process? Why should HR take the blame all the time? And what are the rights of the employee in such a case?
